Exercise trends come and go, but yoga seems here to stay. I’m not surprised—it’s a multi-beneficial workout that’s accessible to almost everyone. You can get started at home with minimal equipment. Many venues run disability-friendly ‘chair yoga’ classes too. And there are even mom and tot sessions for mothers who can’t find babysitting.
If you’re thinking of trying yoga for the first time, then you might wonder what style of bra to wear. There’s a ton of sports bra advice out there, but it mostly centers on getting the best support, not those suitable to wear as yoga bras. In addition, for a low-impact activity such as this, you probably don’t need your breasts to be clamped down.
What you do need is a bra that’s going to keep them contained. You don’t want a boob popping out when you’re doing your downward-facing dog. So a higher neckline is a key feature to look for, as well as tall sides.
I recently shared some examples of moisture-wicking sports bras. For yoga, I’d say that’s a ‘nice to have’ rather than a necessity. Unless of course, you’ll be sweating it out at a hot yoga class.
A chic design also falls into this category. Naturally, function should come first. But for yoga especially, you don’t want clothing hanging in the way when you’re doing the poses.
