Do you ever have days where you’d rather not wear a bra? If you’re also not keen on going braless, there is a compromise. A camisole with a built-in bra!
This two-in-one garment gets top marks for simplicity and speedy dressing. You can even wear one in place of a sports bra plus tank top for lightweight, yoga-type activities. But it’s not just for those who don’t like bras. Camisoles are also an ideal solution for those who dislike visible bra straps.
Please note, however, that a bra-cami combination is unlikely to offer quite the same lift as an actual bra. Still, some are more supportive than others. It all depends on the type of ‘bra’ built into the style.
When shopping for these types of camisoles, you’ll come across many described as having a ‘shelf bra.’ This type is the cheapest, easiest-to-manufacture option. However, it’s just an extra, inner band of fabric. It gets held in place by an elastic band under the bust. Think of these as akin to wearing a bralette. It will keep things contained, but likely won’t be enough to reduce bounce on larger busts.
Then there are camisoles with pre-formed ‘cups’, often made from foam. These offer better shaping, but still only low-to-middling support. They’re like the padded bralette version of the style above. They may be preferable to shelf bras if you suffer from boob sweat though. They’ll keep your breasts a bit more separated.
For large busts or maximum lift, look for a camisole with integrated underwires. These are often hidden away inside the garment, so you’ll need to read the product description to check for them. Some underwired camisoles even have an adjustable inner back closure too. A whole, secret bra hidden away in there!

Would you swap your regular bra for one that comes attached to a camisole? Or if you already have a favorite bra-cami, let me know which one it is!
