Holiday Lingerie Gift Guide: Celebrate the Season With Intimate Apparel

  |   By Holly Jackson

Even when I’m tired of bras, I always manage to fall back in love with lingerie right in time for the winter holidays.

It’s easy to dress bigger and bolder for the season, but not as many of us take that “look at me” attitude and apply it to our lingerie drawers. That's why I thought it would be fun to pull together a lingerie gift guide this year.

I also believe that holiday lingerie gets an unfairly bad reputation: it’s not all sexy Mrs. Claus costumes and cheap reindeer panties. You can channel the spirit of the holidays in a way that fits in with your taste and style, without feeling like some weird costumed elf. Admittedly, I love red lingerie to start with, so I tend to wear holiday sets year round as everyday wear.

This lingerie gift guide contains some of my favorite picks this year, from core sizes to full bust pieces to plus sizes. They’re all beautiful and wearable--- and are guaranteed to be free of Santas, elves, reindeer and snowmen. Don't miss the cute lingerie care stocking stuffers at the bottom of the list!

Cherry Drop Balcony Bra and Bow Back Thong by Mimi Holliday:

via Journelle

If you love themed lingerie but want to wear it for more than one week a year, then this gorgeous Mimi Holliday set will probably hit the spot. I love the delicate cherry embroidery on each piece, which feels holiday appropriate without being too literal. The bow on the back of the thong makes this a great gift set for someone who loves hyper-feminine lingerie.

Sofia Underwire Bra, Waspie, and Brief by Fantasie:

I’ve been really into lingerie sets that use embroidery and textures in different ways this year, so it’s no surprise that this Fantasie set has been on my radar for a while. The waspie practically screams luxury, but the bra and brief are supportive and wearable throughout the year. This set is a classic that will never go out of style.

Playful Promises Emerald Strappy Curve Bra:

This strappy emerald lingerie set is holiday appropriate without being too literal. The black mesh gives it a modern edge and while the matching suspender belt lets you channel a retro vibe with your favorite stockings.

Underwire Demi Bra and Embroidered Panty by Ashley Graham:

Ashley Graham bras make a lot of these gift guides, mostly because the plus size market is still sort of slim pickings and they’re making genuinely beautiful bras that work well as everyday pieces. I love this red and black set, along with the delicate embroidery that makes it feel just a little bit more special than your average bra.

Eprise Arty Romantica Bra and Bikini by Lise Charmel:

Did you know that the Eprise line came in larger cup sizes? Neither did I until earlier this year, but seeing images like this make me want to try a set! The embroidery here is a work of art and more than justifies the heftier price tag. If you want something special for the holidays, this is a great set to try out.

Plaid Print Microfiber and Lace Racerback Bralette and Cheekster Panty by Torrid:

This is the only set I own on this list, and it’s here because I live in it at home now. The bralette is smartly made and surprisingly supportive. It washes well and has held up to lots of wear (including sleeping in it frequently). It’s also nice and winter themed, which would make it a great gift for someone who is full busted and wants to try a new bralette.

Cranberry Red Cashmere Panties by Econica:

It doesn’t get cold enough in New Orleans to justify something like cashmere panties, but I wish it did! Econica has beautiful cashmere panty options (with a matching bralette) that will look stylish and keep you warm and cozy during the cold winter months. I love the cranberry color of these, but there are lots of plainer options too if you want something more all-purpose.

Romane Havana Print Silk Kimono by Dear Bowie:

I feel like I’ve been leading the “Oh my god, why is all lingerie blue now” brigade for ages now, but I think this robe is truly stunning. It’s the perfect to dramatically swish around in and would make a great gift for someone special (or for yourself, since this year was pretty awful for everyone).

Tapestry Devore Cami and Hipster by Only Hearts:

I adore velvet when winter hits, but there’s a thin line between classic velvet pieces and 90’s style velvet pieces. This set falls firmly on the classic side and reminds me of a medieval tapestry.

Plus Size Scottie Fair Isle Pajamas by Bedhead Pajamas:

I know I promised no cheesy Christmas themes, but dogs were not on that list! These Fair Isle pattern pajamas featuring adorable little Scottie dogs are the perfect winter pajama set for someone who loves their loungewear on the kitschy side.

Katerina Robe by Harlow & Fox:

I’m consistently in awe of the creative and unusual robes that Harlow & Fox comes up with, but this one may be my favorite yet. The colors are unusual and unexpected but work perfectly together to create a piece that is both wearable and memorable.

Stocking Stuffers:

Journelle Linden Lingerie Wash:

In terms of scent, this is my favorite lingerie wash on the planet. I’m pretty sure it’s what heaven smells like. It also does a great job at actually washing lingerie, which makes it a great gift for your favorite lingerie collector.

Holiday Twosome Set by Soak Wash:

Holiday Twosome Travel Size Yuzu
via Soak

This set contains a bottle of Soak Wash and a bottle of hand cream in a matching scent! My personal favorite is Yuzu, but I suspect the recently released Pineapple Grove is pretty terrific too. You don’t need to rinse your lingerie with this soap, which makes it perfect for lazy people (me) or for traveling.

Katerina Lingerie Bag by Harlow & Fox:

This lingerie bag in the same knockout Katerina silk is a great gift for someone who loves their lingerie and travels a lot. It’s a lot of luxury in a small package.

Wash and Wear Lingerie Bag Set by Kate Spade:
