It’s been warm here for a while, but I know that East Coasters are finally getting their first blast of warm air in months. So it's a great time to talk about full bust and full-figured swimsuits. Because pool weather will be here before you know it (unless you live in New Orleans, where it frequently becomes too hot to get in a pool in the summer).
My best advice about swimwear is to buy your dream swimsuit as early as you can since it all comes out when it’s still cold, and no one is thinking of swimwear. Great full bust and full-figured swimsuits sell out fast, and good quality ones last a long time. And it’s also nice to splurge a bit on something you feel comfortable in and love.
This list has options for full-bust, full-figured body types and plus-size bodies. Hopefully, there’s something for everyone because this list also contains some widely divergent styles and trends.
Beetleguise Swimsuit by La Femme En Noir:
This fabulous vintage inspired swimsuit is fully lined and comes with a water-resistant faux leather belt, making it unique. Additional bust lining provides support, and removable cups means you can adjust for various curves. It’s currently on pre-order, and La Femme En Noir items sell out quickly, so order it now if you love it.
Cape Verde Suit by Monif C.:
Monif C. has been making great plus-size swimwear for ages and is consistently ahead of the fashion curve. I love this fabulous one piece with its high cut legs and unique necklace print. Matching head wraps are available for each print as well, which is a beautiful finishing touch.
Formentera Swimsuit by Bravissimo:
I love all of the laser cut swimsuit details this season! This bold orange option from Bravissimo is smoothing and supportive but will stand out at the pool. Its size range is 30E to 40K, which is pretty incredible too.
Plus Support Bikini Top and Briefs by River Island:
ASOS is getting into both plus-size swimwear and full-bust swimwear recently, both about creating and carrying more of it. This set from River Island is adorable and has a pineapple print! It’s also affordable, and you can mix and match it with other colors.
Indie Indigo Bandeau Top by Elomi:
Elomi swimwear has started to look a lot like Freya’s swimwear, which is an excellent thing! Elomi used to rely on a clunky and expensive three-part system, so it’s great to see them making fashion-forward two-piece sets like everyone else. I love this sheer crochet top with the built-in bandeau bra. You’ll see it’s sister later in this post from Freya, so it’s pretty clear both brands are thinking on the same wavelength. It does make me wonder what the future of Elomi swimwear could look like: Sachi inspired bikini top?!
Frida Underwired Bandeau Tummy Control Swimsuit by Figleaves:
This strapless swimsuit has a fantastic print, built-in tummy control, and beautiful crochet trim that sets it apart. It’s from the Figleaves house brand, which means it’s pretty budget friendly. It would look lovely with a white crochet cover-up over it at the beach!
Colorblock One Piece Suit by Cynthia Rowley:
I talked about this line of swimsuits and wetsuits recently, but I feel obliged to highlight again how great they are and that they are out there at less insane prices that you might think. I love the pop of pink and black at the leg on this one---it’s color blocking mastery.
Sundance Underwired High Neck Cutout Swimsuit by Freya:
Here’s the Freya version of the Elomi swimsuit above, available in both white and black. I love the crochet look with hidden support underneath and hope both brands keep it around.
Icon Bikini Top by Miss Mandalay:
This top has a lovely strappy detail and will mix and match well with tons of different bottoms, making it versatile and fashionable.
Agra Underwired Lightly Padded Full Cup Bikini Top by Fantasie:
Fantasie is putting out some fantastic prints lately, and I suspect this one is much more dynamic in person than in the photos if their bras are any indication. These support exceptionally well and last forever if you take care of them. It’s a great piece that will get you through several seasons.
Mint Green Push-Up Balconette Cage Bikini Top and Swim Skirt by Torrid:
Torrid has been quietly making great swimsuits for years, so it’s worth highlighting their plethora of beautiful options. This cage bra inspired swim top and skirt is a little bit trendy and a little bit vintage. The sweet mint color is unusual and fun.
Iridescent Shimmer Swim Longline Bikini Top With Built-In Plunge Bra:
I’m not generally enthralled with Lane Bryant’s design choices in underwear or swimwear, but this bikini top is impressive! If I didn’t know the label, I’d guess the design was from someone else. More of this please, Lane Bryant. I know you have it in you!
Ruffle Off The Shoulder One-Piece Swimsuit by Eloquii:
It has ruffles and flamingos, which are peak summer. It also has a serious support system built-in including underwires, boning and a power lining. The straps are adjustable and removable as well.
Cute Cactus One-Piece Swimsuit by City Chic:
I am the queen of crazy and kitschy prints. But I admit that I don’t get the cactus print thing going on right now. It doesn’t matter, because the cactus print is everywhere and I know loads of people who have picked up a cactus-themed piece of clothing. If you too feel the siren song of the trend, this swimsuit is for you.
Wrap Halter One-Piece Swimsuit by Eloquii:
This suit is an example of extreme color blocking, but its audacious take on it makes me love it. If you like your swimwear to make a statement, this might be your perfect vacation suit.
Black Celestial Lined Underwire Bikini Top by Torrid:
This sleek and modern bikini top uses mesh and the galaxy print trend in a new way. If two piece swimsuits are not your thing, it also comes in a one-piece version with a peplum.
One Shoulder Twist From Swimsuit by Eloquii:
This one should swimsuit has a smart cutout that shows skin without sacrificing support or being super revealing. I love the striped print and how it takes on the “plus-size people shouldn’t wear stripes” rule.
Summer Splice One Piece by City Chic:
This one piece is another that uses color blocking smartly! The color palette channels summer perfectly while the black background keeps it mod and chic.
Which of these full bust and full-figured swimsuits would you wear? Do you have any favorite brands or stores missing from this list?
