Warm and Stylish Legwear Options for the Colder Season

  |   By Wen CGNB

One of the pleasures of Fall/Winter is to layer and accessorize our clothing. Since we have no choice but to cover up, we may as well do it nicely. Legwear is a simple way to change the mood of an outfit. For instance, a simple black dress can become lighter and more joyful by matching it with floral jacquard on a sheer base. Wool stockings can give a cozy look to an outfit, but also protect your legs from Winter weather. There are all sorts of ways to use your legs as a canvas for fashion statements!

Maude Nibelungen Audrey Stockings

Maude Nibelungen Audrey Stockings

A Montreal designer, it seems very appropriate to feature Maude Nibelungen's knitwork in this article. The Audrey stockings are one of my favorite pieces from her. This pair is both comfortable and may I say, sexy. The “seam” at the back of the leg and the reinforced toes give a well-finished touch to this piece. I like to wear them with a pair of nude stockings underneath to face Montreal weather in style. This pair will be available until the end of November, so hurry if you are interested!

Wolford Shield Tights

These Wolford tights are one of their recently launched items. This pair matches the Shield bodysuit, with the animal print trend in mind. It's a very cool pattern, although, in my opinion, it resembles bones and would have been great for Halloween as well—not that this makes it any less cool!

Trasparenze Jennifer Merino Wool Hold-Ups

Winter is also about covering and protecting ourselves from the bite of the cold. Merino wool is known to be one of the best materials to wear in cold weather. Hold-ups won’t cover your bum, but it’s a start if, like me, you don’t like wearing tights. The Trasparenze Jennifer hold-ups are a comfy option to wear with a thick winter dress.

Burgundy is always a good idea when the temperature goes down. It’s such a lush and warm color. While leaves and flowers disappear as Nature is falling asleep for a few months, you can adorn your legs with some elegant floral patterns. It may add some delicacy to your outfits and cheer you up when the sun is hiding!

Uye Surana Snake Print Nylon Stockings

You might notice that snakes are very in trend this season. Embroidery, prints, and lace honor the mysterious animal in the most creative ways. Uye Surana launched a full 4-piece set with their photorealistic dye technique. The snake pattern was hand-printed on the nylon stockings. Having worn Uye Surana stockings, I can say that they are some of the most durable I have ever tried. Indeed they feel more like long nylon socks than traditional stockings, which is helpful if you insist on showing your legs in 5 Celsius weather.

Back to the classics, the Agent Provocateur Agate stockings feature 100 deniers and fashion seams at the back of your legs for a discrete vintage touch. This durable legwear is comfortable to wear and preferable if, like me, you have an allergy to the gel used in hold-ups. You can use it with your favorite 6-strap suspender for a practical but stylish undergarment combination.
