Warm Weather Packing Tips: Lingerie Edition

Who needs packing tips? I could have used a few before I came down to sunny Cabo San Lucas this week. Half the fun of travel, for me, is putting together my vacation wardrobe.

I'm in Mexico celebrating the birthday of my good friend and fellow lingerie professional, Ellen Lewis of The Lingerie Briefs. (If you don't know Ellen, check out my interview with her here.) Once I arrived, the conversation turned to what I'd brought to wear on my trip. And, of course, it revolved around necessary intimate apparel.

Many readers may be planning warm weather vacations and could use a few packing tips on helpful brands and styles. Here are my lingerie essentials, in no particular order, along with some photos from my trip. Hope you enjoy!

Hanky Panky Briefs

Their Signature stretch lace undies are easy to pack, wash, and come in fabulous prints and solids. They brighten up neutral or black bras and compliment many prints in my bra wardrobe. Purchasing new briefs to match my bras freshens up my lingerie look.

Fleur't Robe

Made of lightweight modal, the Fleur't Take Me Away short silk tie robe is aptly named. It's the perfect morning and after shower cover when staying in someone else's home. Plus it comes in a variety of fun colors.

Jammy Bean Sleep Shirt

Technically, I didn't bring this along since Ellen gave it to me as a gift on my arrival. But these cotton gauze, long-sleeve gowns are ideal----both for warm summer nights or just wearing around the house after you've been in the pool all day. The shorter ones could double as a beach cover.

Two Sports Bras

I may be on vacation, but I still like to work out at the gym or go for a hike in the desert. But my workouts are bound to be extra sweaty in 85-degree weather, so I need to pack more than one. Wireless sports bras make room for extra pairs of cute sandals and bulkier running shoes. There are plenty of supportive styles on the market, but I choose one from Shock Absorber and Anita.

Empreinte Bathing Suit

Bathing suits are very personal. Some people like to pack several, especially if they're going to lounge around a resort pool. And while there's more than one pool where I'm staying, I knew I'd be hitting the sandy beach, too. Support and stability (and let's face it, coverage for larger boobs) were my primary concern. Empreinte offers excellent quality and construction, plus the Eclat one-piece I recently bought fits me beautifully. And it turns out that Ellen owns a couple of their suits, too!

Bras

Here's where, along with shoes, I tend to over-pack. That's because I want plenty of bra style options. First on the list is my go-to Panache Tango that always makes me look my best under more sheer tops and dresses. But I also can't do without a few fancy feminine sets, either.  Favorites include those from Lise Charmel and Fleur of England. A fashion flexible convertible bra is also a necessity, like this one from Marie Jo.

Lingerie Wash

No list of packing tips would be complete without a mention of lingerie wash. If you are a regular reader, you know that I'm a huge fan of no-rinse lingerie wash. Both Soak Wash and Eucalan sell practical travel size packs that make it quick and simple to rinse finer underthings. If you've never tried them before, check out this post on how easy they are to use.

Do you have any vacation packing tips? Are there any lingerie items you can't do without on vacation?
