Bridal Lingerie for Full Bust and Plus Size Brides

I am one of those people who honestly find it hard to get excited about bridal lingerie. After all, so much of it looks the same and treads the same ground season after season. Classics are great, but so much stuff aimed at the bridal market is either tacky or un-creative.

When I went to pull pieces for this article, I challenged myself to look at things with fresh eyes. If I were getting married again, is there anything out there that would get me excited? What would I personally be looking at for myself? What would I pay money for and how much would I be willing to spend?

Fundamentally, bridal lingerie should be fabulous lingerie throughout the rest of the year as well. Beautiful bridal pieces should have the potential to be re-worn and should also have the same standards for support and comfort as the rest of your lingerie collection. Read on for my slightly unconventional picks, as well as some fit advice and mini-reviews.

Eternal Side Support Bra by Prima Donna:

Available in 3 Colors
Fits Bands 30-50, Cups D-J
via Bare Necessities

This bra may not look like much online, but in person, it’s shockingly stunning. The embroidery shines and shimmers, while the slightly pearlescent white fabric stops you in your tracks. It would be a fantastic bridal set and an amazingly glamorous t-shirt bra for years afterward.

BM Antonina by Ewa Michalak:

This gorgeous white bra makes for a great bridal look or an everyday bra! This popular BM cut works under a wide variety of necklines but also gives that classic Polish projection that we all love.

Eira Waspie Corset by Karolina Laskowska x Harlow & Fox:

Available in Sizes 20" - 24"
via Harlow & Fox

Our ideas about wedding shapewear are mostly practical, but I love the idea of buying a collector’s piece that you could wear for years afterward. It would look great over a wedding dress as well, but could also be layered over sundresses or gowns for regular wear after the ceremony.

Fran Multiway Bra in Toast by Adina Reay:

Available in Bands 28-38, Cups DD-H
via Adina Reay

However, if you do need a more practical item to go under your dress, you should probably make it count. This gorgeous tulle and mesh strapless is built to last and is convertible for versatile wear. It’s also elegant in its simplicity, so you’re not stuck in depressing shapewear under your gorgeous dress.

Lace Longline Strapless by Elila:

Available in 4 Colors
Fits Bands 34-48, Cups B-I
via Elila

If you’re plus-sized and need a strapless bra, this one is my absolute favorite. It’s surprisingly attractive and comfortable to wear for hours. I once wore it for a 12 hour day and felt great. And I’ve never been able to do with any other strapless bra.

Harper Geometric Lace Full Cup Bra by Figleaves:

Harper Geometric Lace Full Cup Bra
Available in Bands 30-38, Cups B-G
via Figleaves

So much bridal lingerie is floral lace, and it gets old. I love the idea of staying traditional but switching it up with a geometric lace for a more art deco feel. This bra is also a great budget choice!

Plus Size Nicolette Sheer Duster by Oh La La Cheri:

Plus Size Nicolette Sheer Duster
Available in Sizes 1x/2x, 3x/4x
via Oh La La Cheri

Oh La La Cheri launched a fabulous bridal collection last year that features some types of pieces that are usually difficult to find in larger sizes. I love this luxe-looking long gown. It would be perfect for pre-wedding pictures and could double as a glamorous honeymoon piece. It’s also well-priced, so you’ll still have plenty of money to spend on an upgraded hotel room on your trip!

Edwardian Cotton & Lace Chemise by Hips & Curves:

Available in Sizes 5X - 6X
via Hips & Curves

If you want something light and comfortable, this chemise has a romantic feel. It would make the perfect sleepwear upgrade from a giant t-shirt once you get home.

Swan Lake Bra by Mimi Holliday:

Available in Bands 30-38, Cups DD-G
via Bravissimo

My love of novelty print lingerie will never die. This Swan Lake inspired bra is romantic, fun and an excellent choice for a bride who wants something different. I’ve heard great reviews about the fit, and it’s usability as an everyday bra as well, so you can continue to enjoy it for a long time after your wedding.

Love Letters Babydoll by Dottie’s Delights:

Love Letters Babydoll
Available in 3 Colors
Fits Sizes XS - XXL
via Dottie's Delights

I love Dottie’s Delights range with model Mosh because it is all affordable and easy to fit. This lovely babydoll is an excellent example of what it does best: quality lingerie that feels vintage and modern at the same time.

Bridal Viviane V-Plunge Lace Teddy by Oh La La Cheri:

Plus Size Viviane V-Plunge Lace Teddy
Available in 6 Colors
Fits Sizes 1X - 4X
via Oh La La Cheri

I have the green version of this teddy and love it! The lack of underbust seam makes it friendly to larger cup sizes, and it comes in core and plus-sizes.

Vintage Cotton Lace Curvy Bra by Buttress & Snatch:

Vintage Cotton Lace Curvy Bra
Available in Bands 28-42, Cups B-K
via Buttress & Snatch

If I had to pick one lingerie line to stick with for the rest of my life, I’d pick Buttress & Snatch. Their stuff is impeccably made and displays a real understanding of curvy bodies. This bra is made with heritage lace from Nottingham and has enough tulle added to satisfy anyone’s girly lingerie fantasies.

More Aviana Bra White by Bluebella:

More Aviana Bra
Available in Band 30-38, Cups DD-I
via Bluebella

This bra is clean and modern, while still feeling bridal and romantic. I think of Bluebella as a brand for sexy pieces, but this set is perfect for the elegant modern bride.

The Reyna Gown in Peaches & Cream by The Nylon Swish:

The Reyna Gown - Peaches & Cream
Available in Sizes  S - 4XL
via The Nylon Swish

Elinor, the designer behind The Nylon Swish, is a real fan of vintage garments and also a fierce advocate for customers who wear larger sizes. Her love of the two spurred her to create her line, of which this gown is the latest entry. There aren’t a lot of classic robes out there for larger busts and curves that are well made, but I suspect this piece ticks all the boxes. If you’re in the US, remember that the currency conversion makes her Australian based products an even better deal!

What bridal pieces are you in love with this season? Do you feel like offerings for plus and full busts have improved over the last few years?
