I was out clothes shopping recently and struck by a comment from a fellow female shopper.
The young woman was standing outside the dressing room in front of a large three-way mirror. As she studied her reflection, she kept tugging at her dress. “I’m not sure about this,” she said to the salesperson. She smoothed the fabric out and pulled at the shoulders. “I don’t know,” she said. “I really like it. But maybe it’s the bra.”
Isn’t that the truth? It may seem obvious, but it’s not always something I consider ahead of time. With some of my clothes shopping frustrations, it turns out that the right bra can make or break an outfit. It all depends on what I’m wearing underneath on that particular day. It’s a good idea to think about putting on my most well-fitting bra or at least one whose style works with whatever might go over it. A full coverage won’t do when a plunge is needed or vice versa. The slightest thickness of a contour bra can make a huge difference. Even a strapless bra can change how my boobs appear.
My one wardrobe rule before heading to the mall? I bring along a couple of my favorite bra styles. Better yet, I might visit a lingerie retailer first and replace any worn out lingerie pieces. That way I’ve got fresh foundation options with me. It makes sense to replenish my bra wardrobe before trying on the latest fashions.
