Spring is almost here, which means you can leave your house and get some fresh air! Plus size activewear has come a long way in the past few years, so there’s finally no lack of stylish and supportive pieces for curvier women. If your current sports bra or leggings have seen better days, this is an excellent list of places to check out for replacements (and don’t miss our recent post on best DD+ sports bras).
High-Impact Molded Underwire Sport Bra by Lane Bryant:
Lane Bryant’s new activewear collection is sleek and powerful, just like this supportive underwire sports bra. You used to have to buy these from specialty boutiques or UK only lingerie stores, so it’s nice to see more mainstream US-based manufacturers bringing them out as well.
Wonder Woman Logo Print Mesh Sports Bra and Leggings by Torrid Active:
Torrid has added plus size activewear to both their Disney inspired collections and their pop culture collections, which means your Wonder Woman and Star Wars-loving insides can match your outsides. These options are colorful, fun and completely different from anything else available right now.
Gwen Cozy Pullover by Zella:
This pullover is great for running or hiking, but also cute enough to wear to the park or the grocery store. I love that Zella is offering more unusual colors beyond black or grey in their activewear line.
Electra Sports Vest by Bravissimo Clothing:
Bravissimo is the original home of full-busted pajamas and sports bras, so it’s great to see that they’ve finally brought out a workout top with a built-in bra to compete with Freya’s offerings. These two tops have different shapes, so if the Freya crop top, below, doesn’t work for you then this one is worth trying.
Gia Printed Powerlite Capri by Fabletics:
Fabletics has the prettiest activewear on the market, with fully coordinated sets that feature prints that you could find on higher-end dresses. If you want to look stylish even when you’re sweating, this is the place for you.
Power Move Tee – Red Mix by Universal Standard:
Universal Standard has come out with a new activewear line, made from high-end fabrics and featuring exciting color blocked shapes. This tee is excellent for almost any workout, especially when mixed with the contrasting leggings. If you’re looking for something more practical, the line also features an all in one bodysuit that can be worn with any bra underneath for working out as well.
Epic Ultra Violet Moulded Crop Top Sports Bra by Freya:
Freya has taken their famous sports bra and designed an entire workout top around it, which is good for people who don’t want to layer their workout clothes. This top is just as supportive as the original sports bra, but stylish and fun to mix and match with other pieces.
Color Block Lace-Up Graphic Hooded Sweatshirt by Rainbow:
This plus-size color blocked sweatshirt boasts an on-trend style and a message that we can all get behind! The lace-up neck section is fresh and reminds me of some corsetry details.
Unicorn Leggings by Lineage:
Unicorns and mermaids are really on trend now, but these leggings are mostly here because they fulfill my childhood dreams. The high waist design and squat proof details make these perfect to get your sweat on.
Goddess Moth Tank by Lineage:
Everyone needs an all-purpose racerback tank, for working out or going to the gym. This tank can easily be paired with yoga leggings or shorts, or layered under sweatshirts.
Nike Short Sleeve V Neck T-Shirt Women’s Plus from JC Penney:
I talk a lot about how real fashion equality means being able to buy the same thing that your core size friend wears, so I’m glad to see that Nike has hopped on the plus-size bandwagon. This t-shirt is one that everyone in your workout group can own, which makes it perfect for those times where you just want to feel like everyone else.
Karen Pullover by Rainbeau Curves:
Rainbeau Curves creates activewear exclusively for plus-sizes, which means that they have tons of stylish standard options as well as dresses that work for multiple occasions. This cute pullover uses mesh and a great color to create a piece that could be worn at the gym or out at brunch afterward.
Which of these plus size activewear pieces would you wear? Any other brands you could recommend?
